Description
Honda CB900 Custom.
I purchased this Honda privately in June 2016 and due to a soon change of personal circumstances i now offer this Motorcycle for sale.
The Honda passed MOT on the 20th July 2022 and have documents relating to previous MOT’s.
I would describe the condition as very good and in perfect working order with no mechanical issues, there has been only very occasional use this year due to time restraints other than my usual trip to the TT taking a very leisurely trip to Liverpool and return fully laiden with camping gear with no issues and is a very reliable machine, the amount of positive attention this bike gets when at the TT is fun to see first hand.
During my ownership the following work has been completed with several sympathetic improvements whilst trying keep to the general original styling, the previous owner had already replaced the handlebars and offers a more sit up comfortable ride without the usual wrist issues on longer trips.
May 2017 Cam tensioner failure going through engine requiring removal and rebuild at a cost of £1448, this was rebuilt by the owner of Lower Street Garage, Cleobury Mortimer who has extensive experience of motorcycles and has proved to be a solid build with no issues since.
July 2017 4 into 2 exhaust replaced with Delkevic 4 into 1, the weight saving by this new exhaust system is certainly noticeable and instantly felt more nippy with a lovely tone, it was a little too loud for me initially so i have put some wadding in the silencer which can be removed if required, this change of exhaust also required the removal of the centre stand which again is a further saving in weight. Note i still have the centre stand and also the original 4 into 2 exhaust which will be passed onto the new owner if required, ideally it could do with rechroming in parts.
July 2017 Cree LED daylight running lights fitted, a big safety plus and lights up those country lanes.
Aug 2018 Rear air shocks replaced with Progressive Suspension which has totally transformed the handling of the bike and can take 2 up fully laiden, this is a common modification on the CB900 due to the rear air shocks leaking air despite Honda rebuild kits being available, i tried twice !
Dec 2018 Bridgestone new front tyre.
June 2020 Master Brake cylinder and brake hoses front and rear changed to braided hoses.
July 2021 Avon new rear tyre.
July 2022 Front fork seals replaced as leaking.
Other improvements over the period of ownership,
Seat recovered professionally with black leather (occasional boot polish brings out the colour).
Wheels powder coated gold (just something special about gold wheels).
Brake discs front and rear drilled to improve brake efficiency.
Mirrors replaced.
As you can see i have tried to be as open and transparent as i can and whilst a older motorcycle will always need maintenance and work to maintain the condition if kept in order will certainly retain its value and be a solid investment over the years.
It is a heavy motorcycle and feels very solid and would suit the cruiser style rider although despite the weight can certainly get up to speed when required, i generally leave the gears in the high set for better fuel economy but one touch of the extra gear lever and there is a lower set of 5 more suited to town use.
I am in no immediate rush to sell this motorcycle so are not going to entertain silly offers to avoid any wasted journeys for anybody, happy to chat on the phone initially if required.
£3500 or very near offer.
