(SOLD STC) - VW T3 Westfalia California hightop, petrol, 5 speed manual, 1989. Westfalia are the only factory made campers and all other conversions out there don’t come close. Pastel white paintwork that is mostly original, first paint which is very rare to find these days. Bodywork generally in great condition and underneath is totally solid and mechanically spot on. Check out the MOT history online and you will see how good this vehicle is, having passed every year for the 15 years it has been in the UK and only one minor advisory 14 years ago. It’s in incredibly good order. The camper has covered 189, 000km, has the original factory fitted Westfalia California interior, in very good condition, with 2 x captain swivel seats with adjustable arm rests and buddy box (for porta-potti) with cushion. Storage capacity is second to none in these Westfalia hightops, with enough cupboards and storage to satisfy the most demanding families. Original curtains, including cab windscreen curtain. 4x seatbelts including 3 point seatbelt in the rear, which is great if you need to fit a child seat. 4 berth with 2 x double width beds. Rock and roll bed at lower level and pull out double in roof. 3 way original fridge (runs on gas, 240v hook up and off 12v onboard battery)- fridge gets icy cold and can make ices cubes, 2 burner gas hob, sink with onboard fresh water tank, electric tap and grey water waste tank. Truma gas warm air heating with 7 day timer and thermostat. Towbar fitted. 2. 0 petrol AGG golf GTI engine conversion undertaken in 2021. No expense spared on conversion costing roughly £4, 500. Cam belt / pre- tensioner changed, new coil, alternator, sump, oil pump, custom Suzuki Bandit based full stainless steel 'Wolfy' exhaust, Brickwerks K&N induction kit and custom GTI wiring loom by Cow County Looms (Elvis). With this engine, fuel economy is as good as a diesel and power is significantly increased to roughly 120 bhp. Reliability is dramatically better than the original WBX engine and parts are cheap and readily available as the engine was used in VAG cars until around 2003. This is a huge increase on the original engine and makes no difference to insurance or taxation of the camper. The camper can sit on motorways with modern vehicles at 75-80 mph all day long and is not troubled by hills like standard engines are. Photos of engine installation can be seen on request. At the same time, the 5 speed gearbox was fully stripped, refurbished and upgraded by Neil Fox (Report on work completed and pics available). Works to gearbox included new 1st gear, hub, synchroniser, input shaft, including additional pinion bearing oiling plate to improve internal oil distribution onto pinion and main shaft bearing. Gearbox works alone were approx. £2k. Newly refurbished very rare original VW 15inch South African Starburst alloys with original centre caps, which are often missing on these wheels. 4x Michelin Crossclimate all season tyres fitted. Other work performed under our ownership: - New fuel tank, feed and return fuel pipes. - New performance springs and dampers (Bilstein B8 Sport and 40mm lowered Eibach springs - all Brickwerks sourced). These are duel rate springs and give great comfort under normal travel but stiffen up in bends or to combat crosswinds or the like. - New front to back power steering hydraulic hoses (Brickwerks kit). - New front discs, pads and bearings. - New radiator. - New main fuse box. - Headlamp protectors - Alpine Bluetooth head unit with remote control and new Pioneer 4 x 10cm speakers fitted within factory cut-outs. Leisure battery and auxiliary fuse box fitted to serve 2x USB / 12v outlets within custom fridge vent, radio, internal lighting circuit and Truma warm air heater. Thule Omnistor 2000 awning fitted, and in good condition. Centre and main carpets included, although not in photos. Protec hightop cover included in sale (was approx. £400). Also included a full set of internal thermal screens for all windows. We will be very sad to see ‘Sunny’ go to a new home after so many adventures since buying in 2015, but we have two campers and can’t keep both. This camper wants for nothing, it’s completely reliable and is ready to take you wherever your heart desires. It is MOT’d until 18th November (but a new MOT can be done for the new owner). It has been fully serviced including oils (engine and gearbox), filters (oil, air and fuel), brake fluids, coolant and spark plugs. I would jump in it and travel across Europe without hesitation. Currently being stored near Staplehurst in Kent and can be viewed there, but can also be viewed at our home in Crowborough or in Tonbridge, with prior arrangement. For Sale at £15, 995. 00. I will try to reply asap to enquiries, but it may be in the evenings due to work commitments. Thanks for looking.
