Selling my Fathers rebodied big Austin due to lack of use and ascending years. Purchased as rolling chassis and a kit of parts with new 2 seater body from Austin 20 guru, the late Keith Walmersley from Yorkshire over 30 years ago. Fully restored, rebuilt and balanced engine, lightened flywheel, new radiator, new clutch. kingpins redone, new springs, wheel bearings, all new body and panels, new windscreen and glass. Restored CAV lights and Lucas / Austin dash instruments. Rear body ready to convert into a dickie seat if required. New hood frame and covering. Gate change gearbox. New wings, valances and running boards.
3. 6 litre engine with Austin 20/ 4 sports profile camshaft fitted. Delco Remy coil conversion. Cracking and powerful Austin car, 20" wheels and side mounted spare. There is a Claudel Hobson barrel type carburettor with the car, but the standard Zenith is currently fitted. A quantity of spares come with the car, spare rear axle, no pinion, head, lined block, exhaust manifold, BTH mag requiring checking, half shafts, king pins and various other small items.
A long restoration that was completed after many trials and tribulations. Buff log book and current V5. The car was reregistered as a tourer on 14/ 01/ 2013 with the non-transferrable 1927 registration which was nicer than an age related number. The new V5 states manufactured in 1927.
Quite a turn of speed, the sports 20 was often referred to as the poor man's Bentley.
