This is probably the earliest Series 2 MK1 Golf GTi out there is out there.
It’s a 1600 cc, 5 speed.
The series 2 MK1 Golf was launched August / September 1980 and this example was registered in UK October 1980. It has tinted glass and steel factory roof so likely to have been a launch model for dealer display with the option boxes ticked.
It does need restoring obviously but is near complete. It was stripped when I got it but I put the engine/ gearbox back in (not plumbed up) and I have sourced the interior to complete the restoration.
It will need (not exhaustive list), carpets, rear parcel shelf, door cards, wiper arms and exhaust (from down pipe). The fuel injectors are missing although all fuel lines in engine bay there. Front to back fuel lines will need replacing.
There’s a blue VAG handbooks and wallet, keys and invoices of past work.
I just haven’t time to do it justice and age wise I haven’t inclination to lay on my back under cars anymore.
Basically needs inner & outer sills on N/ S, outer sill on O/ S, pair of rear arch repair panels, lower rear valance and front panel. There will be some patching to do on inner wing on N/ S and some floor panel on N/ S. The N/ S bottom of A post will need attention too. The spare wheel well has the usual rot.
The dashboard is not wired in as I’ve temporarily refitted it for now.
