Having searched for the perfect E31 Sport, I found this car in Dublin as part of a millionaires collection and imported it in 2021, having spared no expense in my ownership - with all of the receipts to show its been well cared for.
This specific model is rising in value as can be seen with recent sales in 2023.
As an ownership proposition the 4. 4-litre M62 is certainly the one to have and the Sport option is most desirable. An 8 series in top condition is becoming rather a rare thing now, with less than 800 in the UK they have similar numbers and indeed similarities to the 928 Porsche (one of which I've owned recently). Design wise its possibly one of the most beautiful cars BMW ever made, and a one off that departed from their convention.
First Registered in 1999 making this among the final production of the E31 cars, the 4. 4 litre M62 engine offering more torque, higher reliability and greater economy than the earlier 4. 0 litre M60. This is a low mileage example of the Sport model with M Sports body styling, wing mirrors and suspension.
Notable features on this example are the famous original 17” “Throwing Star” wheels, which have been newly refurbished, M Tech steering wheel the owner’s handbook, 2 original keys, and a newly fitted period style Blaupunkt Barcelona Bluetooth Head unit.
