The Wolseley 18/ 85 was announced in 1967 as the posher version of the Austin/ Morris 1800 'Landcrab'. The in house designated ADO17 cars were concieved in the fifties as a bigger version of the Alec Issigonis designed Mini. Orinally intended to use the BMC 1500cc 'B' series engine, the design grew in size such that the 5 bearing 1798cc, as used in the MGB was introduced to cope with extra wieght.
The remarkable example we offer here has lived it's whole life in a 65 mile radius in the Midlands all of it's life. The Wolseley was first registerd on the 24th of October 1968 to a gentleman from north Oxfordshire, who was to keep the car for the next 38 years. The next owner was a committee member of the 'landcrab' club and kept the car for the 6 years. At this time the car past to a collector who had a number of Wolseleys in his collection. The car is now offerd for sale with a genuine 28, 000 only from new. The comprehensive history file contains the car's original BMC passport to service book and every MOT certificate from the first one dated 30th of October 1971 right uo to 2013. The history file also contains many documents from previous owners outling the car's history and mileage. The car has also won the odd trophy and rosette from Wolseley register concourse events. It goes without saying that the car is well known to the Wolseley register.
