The Lotus Eleven chassis #523 we are presenting is a Series 2 delivered new in 1958 to Thomas Scott. In 1961 the car was sold to the Rotorvic Engineering Team, and it was driven by W. C. Hill in countless races from 1961 to 1966: Goodwood Members Meeting, Snetterton Seras Trophy RAC, Silverstone, Mallory Park. In 1962 it was sold to Alan Gough who shared ownership with Dee Jay Racing. It was at this time that the car was modified into a coupe to meet GT specifications. Sold in 1966 to Inglis, who kept it until 1981 when it was sold to Jim Castle with its GT bodywork. In 1995, Andrew Schryver bought it. The car arrived in the renowned workshop of Simon Hadfield who undertook a complete restoration to the 1958 specification (numerous photos and invoices are included). The quality restoration will keep a large part of the original car, and our Eleven will take part in many historic races.
In 2006 Francois COINTREAU bought the car, and it was back on the track on several occasions, in particular during Le Mans Classic. At the beginning of 2021 the car changed hands. Its owner prepared the car by entrusting to the expert hands of Nick Finburgh the construction of a 1500 engine equipped with rare 40DCO3 carburetors. The gearbox will be revised, the brakes etc. Nothing is left to chance and the car hit the track again for the 2022 Le Mans Classic, Dijon and Spa during the Peter Auto Sixties' meetings. Ready to drive, with its 150hp engine, safety and HTP up to date, the car is delivered with a very nice set of parts including its original engine block, and a superb and complete file almost going back to the origins. Eligible for the biggest car events: Goodwood, Le Mans Classic, Tour Auto, the 50's and 60's by Peter Auto, the GTSCC of Flavien and Vanessa Marçais... to name a few !
