This is a beautiful Mercedes-Benz 500SL from the R230 generation. The car was delivered new in 2002 and is still in beautiful condition. The car has only 44, 630 kilometres on the clock and is in excellent condition.
The body of the SL is in beautiful condition. The sheet metal is nice and thin and fits well everywhere. The metal hood can of course be opened and closed electrically and functions excellently. The car stands on original Mercedes-Benz wheels with good tires in the correct sizes. The paint is in very good condition with only some minimal traces of use.
The interior is upholstered in beautiful grey leather, which is in new condition, as well as dark-coloured carpets. The dashboard also features beautiful wood inlays. The instruments and controls are all in very good condition and look like new. The SL is also fully equipped. You have access to Bluetooth telephony, a radio with CD player, climate control, cruise control, electrically operated windows, xenon lighting, heated seats with memory and Bose audio. In short, there is no shortage of luxury in this lovely open German Autobahn Gran Tourer.
Nor is speed, by the way. The 500SL is fully expected to be powered by an M113 V8 engine that is, you guessed it, 5 litres in size. The engine delivers a maximum power of 306 hp and an enormous torque of 460 Newton meters at just 2, 700 rpm. The engine is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission and is a top fit. The M113 is virtually indestructible and this engine has just been run in with its low mileage. The car is also in exceptionally good condition. The engine pulls like a winch and the automatic transmission shifts wonderfully smoothly without jerking. The chassis is wonderfully comfortable and the brakes are more than well suited to their task.
The car is also beautifully documented. From the time the car was delivered new in 2002 until the car came to the Netherlands in 2018, all receipts have been preserved with the car and the invoices for maintenance are also with the car. This shows that this SL has never been missing and the car is in top condition. Not only a beautiful SL to see but also a pleasure to drive.
