The Golf Cabrio CC quickly became known as the ‘Christmas Cabriolet’, reportedly because 750 units were produced in the run up to Christmas 1985
The majority were finished in Arctic White and sported Dark Blue soft-tops with blue appearing throughout including the "CC"-embossed upholstery, door panels and roof lining fabric. There had been a limited-edition, all blue GTi known as the CC so presumably they had some trim left over
They were undoubtedly pretty and presumably were intended to become Christmas presents for wives and daughters
In the event only 693 made it to the UK and a fair few were still in showrooms in the New Year. They were marketed hard by dealers and became known as 'Lady Charme' for some reason
Mechanically they were similar to a standard 1. 8-litre Golf with a five-speed gearbox
This delightful example has covered just over 104, 000 miles and is essentially original apart from a fresh coat of Arctic White and a new soft top with the correct headlining around three years ago
The car is in lovely condition and, being a rare model, will fit nicely into someone's car collection
