THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK
My Dad bought this extremely rare Daimler XJC back in 1982 but sadly he is unable to drive it any longer so it is time for a new home. First registered on the 8th of December 1975 the car has gone on to have a lovely life. My Dad kept a logbook of every journey along with fuel stops. There is a considerable amount of documentation regarding works carried out on the car over the years. In 2019 I had all of the bodywork restored. This cost over £6, 000. I also had a considerable amount of mechanical work done including new brake pads, discs, and calipers, a new fuel pump, fuel tanks, and fuel filter.
THE INTERIOR
The interior of this Sovereign is very fetching indeed
The two front seats are in good condition with no rips or tears to the fabric
The driver’s side headrest could do with some new foam
Pivoting the seats forward reveals the well-preserved rear bench seat
Much like the front seats there is no damage to this rear bench
The central armrest also opens and closes without issue
There are also a spare set of seats in the same fabric which my Dad bought some years ago, just in case
In the 1980s my Dad fitted a beautiful and matching Italvolanti leather steering wheel however the original steering wheel has been kept and will be sold with the car
Behind the wheel, the original dials are all still working
The oil pressure gauge shows a strong reading as does the charge meter
The original veneer does have some wear
In the centre console, all of the original switch gear is still present
THE EXTERIOR
Externally this Sovereign is quite stunning
It has that characteristic quad light set up at the front with the large chrome grille
Being the coupe, it also has that lovely roof line and two doors
With the windows down it creates a lovely interior experience
The car has always been stored in a garage when not in use
A Daimler fitted car cover will be included with the car
SUMMARY
Benefitting from a beautiful body design this rare Daimler Sovereign Coupe is a true head-turner. Wherever this car goes it always attracts the attention of an admiring crowd. There are certainly very few of these cars left on the road and one cannot imagine that the current relatively low prices will remain for long. Unfortunately I have no possibility of storing the car so my Dad and I must let it go.
