Finished in Red with Ivory Leather. This very rare 1984 Morgan 4/ 4 four seats 1584cc Twin Cam left the factory with the lovely little Italian engine known as the Lampredi twin cam, these cars with this engine combination were produced between 1981-1985 with just over 200 built, a little over 100 of these cars were the 4 seater with the Lampredi engine and 5 speed gearbox. My understanding was that the Ford Kent engine was coming to the end of its life and was to be replaced with the Ford 1. 6 CVH engine . However the new Ford Escort was to have the engine installed transversely driving the front wheels therefore this engine together with its gearbox would not be suitable for Morgan's in-line application. Morgan then made arrangements with Fiat to use their Lampredi Twin cam engine and gearbox for the 4/ 4 model, in the mean time things changed and Ford decided to offer the CVH engine in the rear wheel drive Sierra which made the engine available to Morgan, Over the 1981 to 84 period customers had the option to specify either engine with a little over 100 4/ 4 4 seater models built with this lovely and lively twin cam .
This car is truly a rare example coming from its loving owner of the last 20 years and covering a genuine 16950 miles from new with every MOT test certificate to back this up and a massive history file as can be seen in the pictures. The car is also supplied with a full range of beige wet weather gear comprising of hood, side screens tonneau covers and a cotton car cover for garage storage.
