It seems increasingly rare nowadays that I stumble across original, low mileage, low ownership Airhead BMW’s, but given that most of them are 30 or 40 years old, it’s not surprising I guess.
This one is a BMW R100RT Classic, supplied by Harveys of Grimsby, and first registered in March of 1995. This RT was one of the last Airheads produced by BMW, and as such, is fitted with factory extras that really make it stand out. The two tone metalic grey paint is unique to the model, and is totally original. As you can see, the bike is also fitted with matching, colour co ordinated, three piece touring luggage, crash bars, factory comfort seat, auxiliary clocks, stainless exhaust system, heated grips, hazards, etc.
Amazingly, the chap that i acquired the bike from, had owned it from 1997, it being his pride and joy for almost 26 years. Since new, the bike has only covered an astonishing 14120 miles…….. no, that’s not a misprint…. 14120 miles. This is supported by MOTs going back to 1998, and a service book with no less than 6 stamps in it. For once with these old Airheads, there isn’t the usual folder of receipts and invoices, because she’s never needed anything other than the usual consumables. In recent years, the bike has covered only limited miles, and in some years, little more than the mileage to the MOT testing station and back. Make no mistake, this is an iconic, and very special old BMW. Certainly to be cherished, but also to be ridden.
The bike will be supplied with a full oil service (engine, gearbox, shaft and diff), valve clearances, and also a fresh MOT. Obviously HPI clear. Even at this price, more than happy to consider YOUR Airhead in part exchange.
