Sauvé, powerful and now becoming quite collectible, the X100 makes for a fine modern classic. From its sleek styling to the characterful V8 under that long-sculptured bonnet, it truly captures the essence of what makes Jaguar GT’s such beloved vehicles.
The Car
Finished in British Racing Green with Ivory leather and dark walnut trim, our XK8 really does look the quintessential British Grand Tourer.
Registered in November 1997 it has had just 4 previous owners and is showing a very low 61308 miles recorded. It has a current MOT until January next year and is showing 10 stamps in the service book, all but one done at Jaguar main dealers.
The Drive
Powered by the then, all new 4. 0 Litre 32 valve Jaguar AJ-V8 engine mated to an astonishingly smooth five speed automatic gearbox that changes ratios so imperceptibly that you hardly notice, our XK is a delight to cruise down your favorite country road in, shades on, hood down, what could be better? If however, you feel the need, pop it into sport mode, floor the throttle and sixty is just six and half seconds away en route to a limited top speed of over 155 mph.
The Exterior
The XK8 looks resplendent in its classic shade of British Racing Green but inevitably for a car that is 26 years old there are a few blemishes, noticeably some lacquer crazing on top of the windscreen surround and assorted stone chips, most of which have been carefully touched in. That said the paintwork has a mile deep shine to it and there are no signs of corrosion to the bodywork.
The original 17” Revolver alloys are in quite presentable condition though there are some signs of corrosion creeping in under the powder coat and they are shod with a matching set of period perfect Pirelli Asimmetrico tyres.
The hood is in extremely nice condition with no signs of damage, it is watertight and works just as it should.
The Interior
The XK8 has long been renowned for its comfortable and refined interior and this one doesn’t disappoint. The Ivory leather seats are supremely comfortable and supportive and while they do display a light patina, they are all in very nice condition given the cars age. The steering wheel shows very little signs of wear and the Dark Walnut dash is immaculate.
All the switch gear and dials look lovely and are in full working order, as is the radio and boot mounted 6 CD auto changer, all in all it is a very nice place to spend time.
Conclusion
The XK8s stunning lines are to die for, the interior is snug enough to sleep in and this modern classic has all the performance to back up its looks.
It is in summer ready condition with MOT until next January and drives beautifully. It comes with all its book packs and 2 keys with remote..
