Description
This is one of two vans purchased new by the first owner, one being used for business use and this one privately. Typically small commercials had a fairly hard life and the fact that this one has been used privately goes some way explaining why the panel work and the interior are so good.
This is an excellent example of a popular light commercial model of which almost 197, 00 were built between 1954 and 1961. Very few survive in this condition. The van was put into storage in the mid 1970s and was then subjected to a major restoration in 2008. The 300E model, derived from the Anglia/ Prefect saloon car range features Ford's 1172 cc sidevalve engine and three speed gearbox.
Previously sold by us to a commercial vehicle collector on the North Yorks Moors, this van has the desirable steel sunvisor, spot lamps and some ancillary instruments. On the road the Thames is a delight to drive with a very good engine and quiet gearbox. The brakes are firm and effective. Unusually, the van's very valuable two letter four number registration mark is still with the van. A great small commercial for further collector use or perhaps as a useful promotional vehicle for a business.
