Although better known for its more sporting products, Alfa Romeo also produced the 'Autotutto' ('all purpose') Romeo, a small commercial delivery van. The first, T10, version was launched at the 1954 Turin Motor Show in panel-van and minibus variants; a host of other body types followed. The Autotutto is notable as Alfa Romeo's first commercial vehicle built with left-hand drive, all its predecessors being right-hand drive. Alfa Romeo did not develop a special engine for the front-wheel drive Autotutto, but instead used a de-tuned version of its classic 1. 3-litre twin-cam four, as found in the Giulietta. A twin-cylinder supercharged two-stroke diesel was available as an option. Suspension was independent all round, sprung by transverse torsion bars at the rear. This feature plus its front-drive layout gave the versatile Autotutto a large, flat and low load area, while making it relatively easy to extend the chassis to accommodate longer bodywork. Updated Romeo 2 and Romeo 3 models were introduced before the Autotutto was replaced in 1967 by the restyled F12/ A12 and F11/ A11. Commencing with the Romeo 2, the design was also made under license in Spain by FADISA, though the Spanish version was powered by a Perkins diesel engine.
A charming and rare find, this 1300cc Giulietta-powered F11 Autotutto has been professionally restored in a beautiful colour scheme and is in excellent working order. Unfortunately nothing is known about its early history but the F11 does come with a good number of detailed restoration photos from the aforementioned professional restoration. Both exterior, interior, engine and other mechanical components seem to have been extensively restored. Prospective purchasers should note that the vehicle is sold on a bill of sale and does not come with any original registration documents, only a copy of its original Italian libretto dated 1970 and an Alfa Romeo Classiche certificate. An interesting alternative to the more common offerings from Volkswagen, this delightful Autotutto would certainly be the ideal support vehicle at Goodwood or other historic race meetings. We cannot think of a more stylish way to tow your 6C 1750...
