Donkervoort managed to establish itself among manufacturers of ultra sports cars over the years, thanks to the seriousness of its achievements, in particular the choice of using the original Audi 5-cylinder engine. An international jury made up of automotive experts elected this same five-cylinder engine as "Engine of the Year" for 7 times in a row since 2010. The manufacturer succeeded in offering extreme and reliable preparations to its most demanding customers, while offering an exclusive product. With the D8 GTO, Donkervoort obtained the European Small Series Type Approval (ECSSTA) and opened the manufacturer's door to the whole world.
Delivered new in France, this particular example is a Premium Edition version of the D8 GTO, which is a numbered version limited to 25 units, this one being the number 7. This limited series comes with a personalised numbered cover, a pair of shoes (size 43) , black magnesium rims, FreeFlow exhaust system, doors in carbon, leather and carbon bucket seats. In 2017, it was also equipped with a performance kit from the manufacturer, worth ?25, 422, making this example the most powerful and efficient one in this limited series.
For instance, this kit includes a lightweight flywheel, a reinforced clutch, a differential cooling system, reinforced universal joints and a new brake kit. With just over 6 000 km, this thrilling machine is among the most powerful ones to date, certainly one of the most sensational examples with its manual gearbox.
This Donkervoort is a reference when it comes to automobile passion, like those objects of desire which gives us so much pleasure and sensation. It represents the very essence of automotive sportiness, one of the last examples of pure sportiness still equipped with a manual gearbox.
