Condition
This Mercedes-Benz 230SL was built in 1964 and has spent time in Quebec before returning to the UK. It has been with the same owner since 2016, and is now offered for sale once more.
Finished in the attractive shade of Midnight Blue over beige, the car benefits from a significant overhaul of the interior with new carpets, seating and door cards making it a supremely pleasant place to sit.
Outside the Midnight Blue paintwork presents well, with room for improvement in the cosmetics. It drives very well, changes gear as it should and brakes just like a good 230SL should.
While the 230SL might not have the raw appeal of a later 280SL, it also has the advantage of a much lower price of entry - A good 230SL is just as enjoyable to drive as the later cars, and can be more rewarding with the raw feel of the earlier engine.
At the asking price, this is an affordable route into ownership of these beautiful cars, making this a very appealing classic Mercedes-Benz indeed.
History
It's hard to paint a picture on what early life was like for this car, however we can see from the paper trail that significant work was done in 2016, including the refresh of the interior. The car was stripped to rectify and prevent any metalwork issues at the time, before the new interior was fitted.
