This 1999 BMW Z3 M Coupe is the perfect example of a usable, rare and appreciating performance car. This particular example has been used end enjoyed whilst having little expense spared on servicing, preventative maintenance and upgrades throughout its life including a very recent BMW Inspection 2 service (Oct 2023).
?The more frequently used term of ?OEM PLUS? suits this Z3M perfectly thanks to a few choice modifications to the suspension system and exhaust system allowing for a more adaptable ride and enhanced sound.
?When purchased new in 1999, the car was specified with some desirable optional extras including multicoloured leather (Kyalami over Nappa)and an upgraded Harmon Kardon speaker system with a factory fitted subwoofer and CD changer in the boot.
This particular car has an exceptionally rare colour combination of Cosmo-shwartz exterior paint and Kyalami over Nappa leather and is one of just 29 cars produced globally in this exceptional colour configuration. The condition of the paint is excellent although some small stone chips can be found on the front bumper and one very small spot of corrosion can be found just below the window on the drivers door which can be easily rectified if desired. Elsewhere on the car, there is no corrosion to be found with the car equally clean on the underside too. The original OEM wheels were refurbished in May and new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres were fitted at the time.??The condition of the interior leather and trim is also excellent with little-to-no signs of wear or stress. The iconic boot space still retains the original retractable luggage cover and cargo netting from new and the full factory supplied tool kit is still complete and present stowed under the luggage compartment floor. ??Being a 1999 car, the powertrain is the S50B32 engine paired with a 5 speed manual gearbox - as found in the E36 M3 Evolution of the era. The engine and gearbox are unmodified and unchanged and the current mileage is 108, 000 miles. ?
?In November 2021, Autoworks Swindon carried out a comprehensive engine service, including adjustment of valve clearance and endoscopic inspection which produced a positive report. Seperately in November 2021, the VANOS unit was stripped and serviced by Mr VANOS too as a preventative service. Around the same time, a comprehensive cooling system refresh was also completed which included the fitting of a new water pump, thermostat, temperature sensors, gaskets and hoses.??
The two ?OEM PLUS? modifications of note are the KW V3 fully adjustable coilover suspension system and a SuperSprint exhaust system. ??
The car comes with a bound folder showing the extensive documentation detailing the level of servicing, maintenance and preventative work, some of which has been detailed above.??Most recently (October 2023) the car has had the extensive inspection 2 service completed. ?
The Z3 M when new was a car celebrated for its performance and handling and this car with its minor adaptations to the suspension and geometry rewards an even more compliant and enjoyable driving experience.
