With its unmistakable facade and streamlined silhouette, the Aston Martin DB6 is recognised the world over.

This fabulous Mk II was supplied to the first of only 7 keepers by H. R. Owen of London, in June 1970.

A copy of the original sales information gives details of the chosen specification, including the Borg Warner 3-speed automatic gearbox, black Connolly leather and Avon tyres, plus its original colour of Pacific blue. Two front seat belts and 7 pints of antifreeze are listed as additional non-standard equipment.

The history folder includes some 1970's MOT certificates; a more detailed history starts in the early 80's, and runs, unbroken, right up to the present day. It documents maintenance and servicing throughout the car's lifetime, predominantly with Aston Martin main dealers and specialists.

Of interest, the car changed colour on two occasions; from blue to Dubonnet Rose in 1983, and to classic Silver Birch, apparently in the early 1990's.

Further details include an odometer change (at 53, 433 miles), the removal of the ash-framed folding sunshine roof, significant engine work and renewal of the torque converter, thorough refurbishment of the suspension and brakes, the addition of electronic ignition, plus substantial structural remedial repairs.

The interior appears original and authentic; the leather seats, steering wheel, dashboard, Smiths gauges and switchgear all possessing a genuine patina, yet without any significant wear and tear. A period-correct Radiomobile is also installed.

Driving this DB6 feels like a special occasion, every journey is one to be savoured and enjoyed. The power from the 4. 0 litre straight 6 feeds the 282 bhp smoothly to the rear wheels, accompanied by slick gear changes from the auto 'box, with positive steering and handling.

The DB6 superseded its fabled older sibling, arriving in October 1965, and was blessed with more equipment than ever before; power steering, a limited slip diff and air conditioning.

Structurally, the roofline increased slightly, and the addition of 9. 5cm to the wheelbase provides more rear passenger room. Further changes were the oil cooler aperture in the front valance, split front and rear bumpers, and that gorgeous Kamm tail rear spoiler. Slightly flared wheel arches were added to second generation examples to accommodate wider wire wheels.

Fewer than 250 Mark II coupes were built between July 1969 and November 1970. The chassis number and June 1970 registration date suggests this one falls somewhere in the middle of that production run.
