The Rolls-Royce Corniche marked automotive history from its launch in 1971 to its last version, the turbocharged "S" in 1995. The next model, the "V", took up the Corniche terminology but no longer had the same design, while the first Corniche was the coupé or cabriolet version of the Sliver Shadow sedan. It owes its name to the set of roads between Nice and Monaco. Designed by Bill Allen, it went through four different names. The one we're presenting here is one of Crewe's latest production models, one of the last Corniche IVs built in 1995 and delivered new to the USA, in California, in 1996. It then crossed the Atlantic to enter the hands of a German enthusiast, before arriving in Monaco at the home of its current owner, a Monegasque promoter, who will use it on a limited basis to move around the Principality in style. The color combination is very sober and elegant, light bluish gray, light gray leather interior with dark gray piping; the condition of the interior is superb, including the woodwork on the center console and the dashboard which houses the airbags this latest version is equipped with. The odometer on this superb Corniche IV showed 89, 033 miles when we photographed it, which tells us that it has always received the utmost care. It runs very well, in the silence of its V8, as befits a Rolls-Royce. Supplied with its on-board manual and notebook, this IV version is a real opportunity.
