To compete with Ford and its Mustang in the Pony Car and Muscle Car markets, General Motors launched a car under two of the group's brands: the Camaro for Chevrolet and the Firebird for Pontiac. The two models differ in their front and rear ends, as well as in other details. The Pontiac could be equipped with a variety of engines, and different levels of the range appeared: Firebird, Formula (more powerful) and Trans Am (even more powerful). Given the success of the Trans Am, Pontiac decided to make it a model in its own right.
The model we present was built at the Norwood plant in Ohio in 1977. It features a 6. 6L 400ci V8 engine with 4 carburetors, dual exhaust and automatic transmission. The one we're presenting was imported to Europe, and its odometer shows 78, 800 km, certainly original. This 'Solar Gold' version, with its stylized eagle on the hood, is reminiscent of the American TV series of the late 70s, reviving the golden years of an entire generation.
