Here we have a superb low mileage example of the “facelift” 986 Boxster S, having covered just 42, 135 miles in the hands of only two owners from new.
By 2003 the 986 Boxster had been in production for 6 years, and at this point Porsche introduced a number of improvements to the model for the last 2 years of production. These “facelift” cars feature slightly more power (the 3. 2 S now up to 260bhp), a revised hood with a heated glass rear window, cosmetic changes to the design of the bumpers and air intake trim, clear lenses to the indicators, and some additional features in the cabin, with the inclusion of a glovebox and cupholders.
Presented in Basalt Black (LC9Z) metallic paint with graphite grey leather interior, RX53WNJ was first registered on 11th October 2003 at Porsche Centre Reading. The first owner, a local doctor, ordered his Boxster S with the following factory fitted options:

The first owner kept his Boxster for 3. 5 years and had the car maintained at the supplying dealer Porsche Centre Reading. The car was then sold on 31st March 2007 to the second and most recent owner, a gentleman from New Malden in Surrey, who kept the car for the next 16 years, using it sparingly but continuously throughout his ownership.
The second owner entrusted a well known local Porsche specialist, Charles Ivey Specialist Cars, with the maintenance of his Boxster, which despite its low annual mileage has been maintained in line with the manufacturer’s service schedule.

In addition to the servicing above, there are also 6 stamps in the record for brake fluid changes, the most recent of these by us in January 2024 at 42, 133 miles. Our preparation has also included a replacement clutch and rear brake lines, and a new O2 sensor in the exhaust system.
The car remains in very good cosmetic and mechanical condition, and drives exactly as it should – the smooth and sonorous flat-six engine providing serious performance, the steering direct and full of feel, and the handling surefooted and balanced as only a mid-engined sports car can be. The Brembo-sourced brakes deliver prodigious stopping power too.
There are just a couple of minor marks to the original paintwork – a touched in stone chip to the bonnet and a minor scuff to the lower driver’s side corner of the front bumper. The 18” 996. 2 Carrera wheels are in good condition with just a few marks to the outer rims, and the car is fitted with matching and recently fitted Kumho Ecsta tyres.
Low mileage, low owner 986 Boxsters are becoming harder to find as even the youngest of them hit 20 years old, with values increasing steadily for the best examples. RX53WNJ is a well specified example of the sought-after facelift S model, available for sale for only the second time in its 20-year history.
