Description
The Jaguar Type E, known as the "Jaguar E-Type" in the UK and the "Jaguar XK-E" in the United States, is an iconic sports car built by Jaguar in the 1960s and 1970s. Unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show in 1961, it succeeded the XK series. Production spanned from 1961 to 1975, offering three models (convertible, coupe, and 2+2), three series, and two limited editions.
Designed at the time by aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer, under the supervision of William Lyons, the Type E featured a design reminiscent of the Jaguar Type D while adopting a very modern concept. Over the years, numerous evolutions and modifications were made to enhance performance, safety, comfort, and to comply with regulations.
With 72, 584 units produced between 1961 and 1975, the Type E enjoyed immense commercial success, becoming a true automotive legend that symbolizes the vibrancy of the 1960s.
The Series 2, known for its reliability and ease of driving in modern traffic, is distinguished by an improved Girling braking system and a larger radiator cooled by two electric fans.
The convertible model offered today is in excellent condition, both in terms of engine, bodywork, and upholstery, after a complete restoration. Features include: restored vehicle, 6-cylinder engine, manual transmission, left-hand drive. An opportunity to own an iconic piece of automotive history in exceptional condition.
