Description
This Mini Cooper was originally supplied by Hannants of North Walsham, Norfolk on 17th December 1994 and is presented in Flame red with a white roof and body decals. The Mini was specified from new with the John Cooper Si Plus conversion from John Cooper Garages in Worthing, which increased the power of the car to circa 82bhp as result of upgrades including a performance cylinder head, high-lift rockers and a Janspeed exhaust system. The Mini was also specified with subsidiary driving lamps and the performance handling pack, comprising of 165-width tyres and Spax adjustable shock absorbers, for enhanced stability and road holding. Typical Cooper features include fog lamps, 12-inch Minilite alloy wheels, a leather-bound ‘Cooper’ steering wheel and a three-clock binnacle with magnolia faced dials.
This Mini boasts a mere 7, 695 miles and one owner from new. For the first three years of its life, the Mini was used sparingly and exhibited at shows during summer months. The owner, a member of the Norfolk Mini Owners Club, would ensure that the Mini was waxoyl protected and always garage stored when not in use. Soon after its first MOT on 12th December 1997, with an odometer reading of 7, 510, the Mini was taken off the road and subsequently mothballed in dry storage. Although started up frequently, it wasn’t until last year, some twenty-six years later, that the Mini returned to the road, passing only its second MOT first-time, without any advisories on 23rd September 2023 at 7, 670 miles.
The condition of this Mini is exceptional and can only be described as ‘time warp’. It is obvious that the car has been cherished. The paint finish is even throughout and the body panels all appear flush and straight. The original factory ‘body’ number and stickers are present on the slam panel, as well as the factory spot welds on the inner wings. The vehicle chassis number is correctly etched into the front and rear screens. The glass and trim are in fine order, whilst the rubbers have retained their rich black colour. All four wheels are in excellent condition and are shod in new Yokohama A539 tyres. The original supplying dealer number plates and rear window sticker remain in situ. The cabin is equally impressive and reflects the very low mileage. Attached to the crossmember resides the John Cooper Garages conversion plaque engraved with conversion number ‘0195-Si’. The 82bhp-converted injection engine is strong and pulls impeccably and the gear synchros are all in good order without any crunches on the changes.
The Mini has now passed its third MOT, valid until 7th March 2025, and is sold freshly serviced and ready to be enjoyed. Supplied with the Mini is a history file dating back the point of first registration including the original bill of sale.
