1998 Bentley Brooklands R Mulliner No. 55 of 100. The Brooklands R Mulliner was specifically upgraded by Rolls-Royce’s bespoke coachbuilder, Mulliner. It was called the Brooklands R Mulliner and each one was identified by a numbered plaque on the dash centre console. With upgraded luxury came extra grunt from an uprated ‘light pressure’ turbo increasing the power to 325bhp and 446lb/ ft of torque, to aid the extra power suspension from the Turbo RT was fitted and big braking system from the Continental T. The Brooklands R Mulliner was only available in RHD and long wheelbase. Our example is number 55 finished in Atlantic Blue with dual tone Sand and Pebble hide interior. Covered just 45, 000 miles with service history from Bentley main agents and specialists. Cosmetically all Brooklands R Mulliner was given Mulliner features including: wing vents, polished bumper tops, mesh grilles, RT colour coded bumpers, body coloured headlamp surrounds, 19-inch alloy wheels, oval sport exhaust tail pipe, starter button and Green badges. Customers could of course choose to have even more exclusivity with a huge range of options for colours, trims and veneers. In this case, No. 55 was commissioned with dual tone interior leather in Sand and Pebble with a split, hand stitched top roll, the top half to be trimmed in Dark Blue hide to match the exterior. The perforated leather steering wheel was also to be specially trimmed in Black and Blue hides. For the veneer, the customer chose dark Walnut with no crossbanding or stringing, the door tops were to be ‘roll top style’ and the gauges to have chrome surrounds. Finally, the seats were to feature stitched Bentley motifs on the headrests and the carpets and lampswool over rugs in Dark Blue to match the Atlantic Blue bodywork. Inside remains totally original and remains one of the best interiors we have seen on one of these very special cars. The car has been maintained to a very high standard by main agents and specialists, recent work has included a complete front suspension overhaul including new road springs and dampers. We have also replaced the brake discs and pads all round. On the road the car performs faultlessly and is a pleasure to drive.
