We are proud and privileged to have for sale, new in at the Bike Specialists, another super rare excellent investment opportunity. To add to our recently sold Replica here we have the real deal, this is the crown jewel for any serious Ducati collector as they rarely come up for sale .. an original Ducati Supermono owned and raced by Alan Cathcart. Our 1995 bike with headstock number 03 has just been painstakingly restored by Ducati Supermono Guru Alistair Wager. The bike is also supplied with all of the bikes original blue race fairings.
The bike was raced by Alan in 1995-97, the only three years it was raced. The bike's final two races, both rounds of the 1997 British Supermono Championship which Alan won by taking victory in the Cadwell Park race on Sept. 27 and finished second in the bike's final race at Silverstone on October 26 1997. After that the bike was only ridden in public again in the Isle of Man TT Parade in 2008 celebrating Ducati's 50th year of racing on the Island and at the Mallory Park Festival of 1, 000 Bikes on July 12, 2009.
Before that, Alan won the 1997 British Supermono Championship on it after winning rounds at Lydden, Wroughton, Cadwell Park and Brands Hatch, it also won the Daytona SoS race twice, in 1995 and 1996. It also finished second in the 1996 European Supermono Championship run as a support class to the World Superbike Championship.
The Ducati Supermono was introduced at the 1992 Cologne Motorcycle Show to worldwide acclaim. It was the collaboration of Bordi, Domenicali and Terblanche. It was created to enter the growing class of the Sound of Singles (SOS) motorcycle racing class. Ultimately, the Supermono class was included in the World Superbike rounds from 1994 to 1997 and had a production run of 67 machines. Not only is the Ducati Supermono one of the best-looking motorcycles ever produced, it is the best-packaged bike to compete in the single-cylinder racing class in the last 25 years. This bike was the most successful example sold complete with full race provenance.
