This rare 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle Karmann Cabriolet is a remarkable and highly collectable find, boasting just 686 miles from new. Produced in October 1979, just two months before the end of Beetle Cabriolet production, this iconic car represents the final chapter of an era. Delivered brand new to Elliott Pontiac Inc. in Great Bend, Kansas, it has been meticulously preserved and cared for ever since.
The Super Beetle is powered by its original 1. 6-litre flat-four engine (1585cc), producing 48 HP, fuel injected, paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car is finished in the highly desirable Florida Blue, a rare colour choice as most models of this era were red, black, or white. The cream soft-top roof and black vinyl interior with burr walnut veneer accents add to its elegant and timeless appeal.
It comes complete with its original tool kit, tyre jack, and radio fascia plate, further showcasing its originality. The car’s factory features include 15-inch steel wheels with Vitour Galaxy R1 tyres, a VDO analogue clock, push-out quarter-light windows, and a Grundig cassette stereo.
