The Mercedes-Benz R129 redefined the luxury roadster, setting a new benchmark for engineering, comfort and refinement. Designed by the legendary Bruno Sacco, its timeless proportions and understated elegance have ensured its place among the most admired modern classics ever to wear the three-pointed star.
This 1996 SL500 is powered by Mercedes-Benz’s revered 5. 0-litre M119 V8, an engine celebrated for its effortless performance, exceptional reliability and motorsport pedigree. Paired with a smooth 4-speed automatic transmission, it delivers the refined grand touring experience that has made the R129 one of the marque’s most enduring modern classics.
Finished in Smoke Silver Metallic (702O) over a beautifully preserved Beige Leather (265A) interior, complemented by a Dark Brown fabric soft top, this exceptional example has covered just 10, 900 miles from new. Originally delivered to the United States in December 1995, it remained in long-term private ownership before joining the Tomini Classics collection, reflecting the careful stewardship it has enjoyed throughout its life. Accompanied by its original owner’s manuals, stereo test cassette, spare key and factory accessories, it represents a wonderfully preserved example of Mercedes-Benz engineering at its finest.
Elegant, beautifully engineered and increasingly sought after by collectors, the R129 has matured into one of Mercedes-Benz’s defining modern classics. Combining timeless design, exceptional build quality and the legendary M119 V8, this outstanding SL500 is equally rewarding on the open road as it is within a distinguished collection.
