Delivered new from Germany in its beautiful and rare Dunkelgrün (Dark Green, code DB268) colour, this Mercedes has been in the same family since its arrival in France in 1989 and has only 76, 500 original kilometres. It is presented in a condition that will delight the most demanding enthusiasts. All the details are present, right down to the use label on the soft-top boot! I'm writing this description after having had the pleasure of driving the car and preparing it from start to finish. In the early 90s, the car received a new paint job and a complete wax treatment of its underbody and hollow bodies. We have no photos or other evidence of the work carried out, as its second owner unfortunately passed away without leaving any trace of this refurbishment.
His son-in-law inherited the car in 2002 and continues to own it to this day, but some thirty years later, its condition and the thickness of its paintwork bear witness to the remarkable work carried out by the bodybuilder in charge of this operation. The body as a whole has a uniform thickness of around 130 microns, with no extra thickness at the bottom of the wings or elsewhere. The direct gloss paintwork is very well stretched. All the bodywork components, wings and doors, are original and perfectly aligned. All the chrome is in mint condition, with the exception of the right-hand rear bumper, which shows some slight deterioration. The interior is completely original! The carpets, which show no signs of wear, have lightened slightly over time. The leather has a wonderful patina. The driver's seat has a few grooves, but if desired, our saddler can restore it using a patinated leather for perfect harmony. Mechanically, this 280 SL runs like clockwork. Its low mileage is immediately apparent. It drives silently, brakes on the line and offers a smooth ride thanks to its power steering and 4-speed automatic gearbox. Behind the wheel, its smell and the charm of its patina provide magical moments. The noise of the engine is not what you want in a Pagoda, but the comfort and luxury of the era, accompanied by music from its Becker Grand Prix set, make for a great experience. After reading this presentation, you will have understood that this Mercedes roadster is a car not to be missed. If you're in the market for a 280 SL Pagode, it would be a real shame not to come and take a look at one. It's not a commitment in any way and can only bring you positive results. It is a very good basis for comparison with other vehicles you may have in your sights. It comes with its data card, service book, owner's manual, jack, spare wheel and retainer.
