Lot 140
The Dale Winfield Motorcycle Collection
1964 Honda 125cc CB92
Registration no. PMB 252B
Chassis no.
Honda's first 125cc twins - the C90 tourer and CB90 sports - appeared in 1958 and were swiftly superseded by the C92 and CB92 respectively. With its aggressive styling, class-leading specification, phenomenal 15bhp power output (at 10, 500 revs!) huge - for a 125 - brakes and 250-beating performance, the CB92 proved an outstanding success and today is one of the most desirable of early Japanese classics.
Currently displaying a total of 13, 602 miles on the odometer, this CB92 is presented in nicely older restored condition and would benefit from detailing (the engine turns over). The Honda is offered with an V5C, photocopy V5 in the name of a Maria Pritchard, erroneously listing the frame number as 'CB92E-7001331', and the engine number as 'CB92-7001384'. (We are unable to locate a frame number in the expected location, and the aforementioned engine number may well be the frame number.) Previously registered overseas and declared manufactured in 1964, the machine was first registered in 1990 and was purchased by Mrs Pritchard in 1991. Our late vendor purchased the Honda in 1993, as per the photocopy V5 in his name. There are also some 'as purchased' images on file and a 1991 tax disc is present also. Following a period of inactivity, this motorcycle will require recommissioning or possibly more extensive restoration before returning to the road and thus is sold strictly as viewed. No key present.
All lots are sold 'as is/ where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Visit the Bonhams website for all pertinent auction information.
