Description

The History of Porsche and the Legendary 911 Porsche, founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche, has evolved into one of the most iconic sports car brands in the world. The name Porsche is synonymous with speed, precision, and timeless design. The real breakthrough came in 1964 with the introduction of the Porsche 911 a revolutionary model that would forever change the automotive world. Designed by Ferdinand "Butzi" Porsche, the founder’s grandson, the 911 quickly won the hearts of car enthusiasts worldwide. Its distinctive fastback design and air-cooled flat-six engine formed a unique combination that has remained largely unchanged over the decades. The evolution of the 911 has seen many generations, each introducing new refinements and innovations—yet always remaining true to its original DNA. One of the most desirable variants is undoubtedly the Porsche 911T 2. 2 from 1970. With its unique specifications and limited production, this model is among the most sought-after classic Porsches today. The 911T 2. 2: A Revolutionary Leap in the Sports Car World In 1969, the Porsche 911 underwent several technical improvements, including a 57 mm wheelbase extension, resulting in better road handling and enhanced driving comfort. This modification provided greater stability without compromising the playful driving dynamics that made the 911 so beloved. Continuing to innovate, Porsche launched the 911T 2. 2 in 1970, now equipped with a larger 2. 2-liter flat-six engine that delivered an additional 15 horsepower. The result was an even sportier driving experience with a more responsive throttle and improved performance on winding roads. Out of a total production of 81, 032 units, only 2, 573 were produced in the 911T 2. 2 configuration, making this model especially rare. Its exclusivity is further underscored by its rare options and impeccable restoration history. A Dutch Treasure: Originally Delivered in 1970 The Porsche 911T 2. 2 featured here was originally delivered in the Netherlands on October 30, 1970. It came in the exclusive color "8484-H Blaumetallic", a timeless and elegant shade that perfectly highlights the 911’s flowing lines. This car left the factory equipped with the "M470 Comfort Ausstattung" package, also known as the S-package. This included gold "911" badging on the rear deck, velour floor mats, aluminum door sills, chrome side trims, and the iconic 911S-style gauges. Additionally, this example featured a leather-wrapped steering wheel and green-tinted glass, further enhancing its luxurious feel. One of the most special options was the "Leichtmetallrädar 5" a set of original 14-inch alloy wheels, including a fifth spare wheel. These wheels were fitted with Pirelli 185/ 70/ 14 Cinturato CN36 tires, just as they were when the car left the factory in 1970. A Life Well Traveled: From California Back to the Netherlands Shortly after its delivery, this Porsche was exported to Sonoma, California, where it enjoyed the warm, dry climate for many years until it was eventually stored away, its glory days seemingly over. For years it sat untouched, until in 2014, a new owner, Mr. Müller, brought the car back to the Netherlands. What followed was an intensive restoration process. The car was fully stripped and media blasted, with every nut and bolt meticulously removed, inspected, and restored. The engine block, a masterpiece in its own right, was entrusted to a specialist for a complete rebuild. Not a single detail was overlooked in the quest to return this Porsche to its original glory. A Masterpiece Reborn: Restoration to Perfection** Imagine a neglected ** Porsche 911T, covered in dust, waiting patiently for someone to rediscover its potential. The paint is dull, the engine hasn’t run in years, and the interior shows the wear of time. But then, in 2020, this 911T landed in the hands of a true enthusiast someone who, as a hobby, dedicates themselves to perfecting classic Porsches. With unmatched passion and attention to detail, the restoration began. No expense was spared. Every component that no longer met factory standards was replaced with genuine Porsche parts, supplied by Alpogros, a renowned Porsche specialist in Haarlem. Worn-out rubbers were swapped for fresh, high-quality replacements. The paint was completely redone in the original Blaumetallic, using only the finest techniques. The interior was hand-restored, with every stitch replicating the original design down to the smallest detail. The result? A Porsche 911T that feels exactly as it did on that October day in 1970. From the smooth shifting of the 5-speed gearbox to the unmistakable growl of the air-cooled flat-six engine, everything is just right. A full set of documentation including the original booklets, invoices, and the official "Geburtsurkunde" (birth certificate) confirms the authenticity of this automotive masterpiece. This isn’t just a restoration it’s a rebirth. Conclusion: A Dream on Wheels The 1970 Porsche 911T 2. 2 is not just a classic sports...
