Decried by some as a 'parts bin special', Yamaha's Radian was nonetheless a stylish and – arguably – very attractive motorcycle, albeit one that never (officially) made it to the UK. Looking very much like the Yamaha FZX750 Fazer's glitzy little brother, the Radian was powered by basically the same 598cc twin-overhead-camshaft fair-cooled four that also went into the XJ600 Diversion tourer and FZ600 sports roadster. According to Cycle World's 1986 review: "The Radian is an excellent motorcycle, one that's versatile enough to perform superbly in just about any kind of street-riding scenarios, and it'll outhandle most anything but pure sportsbikes."
Yet another interesting Japanese motorcycle that was denied to the UK market, this Radian was imported from the USA and first registered in this country on 4th July 2015. The Yamaha was first registered to the vendor's company and is now registered to him personally. He has ridden the machine for around 1, 500 miles since its restoration. Recently the fuel tank was repaired, lined and repainted and the carburettors were ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt. The current odometer reading is 17, 770 miles. Accompanying documentation consists of DVLA correspondence; a V5C Registration Certificate; three old MoTs (most recent expired January 2020); and a quantity of invoices and list of parts used in the Radian's restoration.
