Description

Description and highlights of this vehicle - 18, 000 original km - Collector's registration document - Extensive servicing carried out Our Land Rover Series III 109, with just 18, 100 km on the clock, was put on the road in France on 18 January 1977. This long-chassis model is one of the rare examples to have been preserved with such authenticity and perfectly maintained mechanics. Used by the Haute Provence fire brigade as an emergency vehicle, it has an exclusively French history and is finished in a period blue colour in good condition, with a black interior. The bodywork is in good condition and the chassis has been carefully sanded and repainted to the highest standards, without blacksmithing. Under the bonnet is a reliable 71bhp petrol engine coupled to a mechanical gearbox. The mechanics have been overhauled by a specialist in classic vehicles, including: Refurbishment of the brakes and suspension. Opening of the engine for a complete overhaul: seals, engine gaskets, water pump, radiator and ignition. Overhaul of the carburettor. Fitting of 4 new tyres suitable for road use. Before the sale, the cylinder head will be tightened and the brakes checked to ensure delivery in optimum condition. The last full service was in December 2024, and the 2023 roadworthiness test showed no defects since the overhaul. The original Hard-Top is available. Model History The Land Rover Series III 109, produced between 1971 and 1985, is the culmination of an evolution that began with the original 1948 model. Initially conceived as a utility vehicle inspired by the military Jeep, the Land Rover was distinguished by its robust welded steel chassis and aluminium body, a choice dictated by material shortages after the Second World War. The Series III model, with 440, 000 units produced, retained the iconic design of earlier versions while introducing significant improvements. It was the first to offer a fully synchronised gearbox, making driving easier. The long version (109 inches) offered innovative configurations, such as the 'High Capacity Pick Up', offering a larger tipper body and reinforced suspension, ideal for industrial use. The 2. 25-litre petrol and diesel engines gained in rigidity thanks to a five-bearing crankshaft introduced in 1980. Comfort options, such as the County Pack with padded seats and soundproofing, were added to appeal to a wider audience, without losing its utilitarian soul. Today, the 109 Series III remains an icon of off-road vehicles.
