Description
Our model has a complete invoice file with many new mechanical parts. The original colour is a beautiful English green and the chassis is very sound with no corrosion. Excellent road-holding. History: The model is an evolution of the MG A, but largely modernised. The car abandoned the traditional chassis in favour of a stamped, self-supporting body. The car was shorter and wider than the A, at 3. 89 m and 1. 52 m respectively. With a height of 1. 25 m, it has a decidedly sporty appearance, and to power it, its designers have opted for a 94 bhp 1. 8 litre three-stage engine. It is mated to a 4-speed gearbox. The front wheels are independent, with coil springs and shock absorbers, while the rear wheels rely on leaf springs. Braking is by discs at the front and drums at the rear. Total weight was 920 kg. Top speed was 173 km/ h and the 0 to 100 km/ h time was 11. 8 seconds. Production began in May 1962. From 1963, the gearbox was fitted with an optional electric overdrive on 3rd and 4th gears. In 1964, the engine was upgraded. The 3-bearing was replaced by a more modern and reliable 5-bearing. However, power fell to 89 bhp. From this model onwards, the oil cooler became standard. Until then, it had been an option on models intended for the domestic market and a standard feature on export models.
