Description
History: When a Gran Turismo cost 180, 000 DM thirty years ago, capable of accelerating four occupants from 0 to 200 km/ h in 20 seconds and regarded as the best sports coupé in the world, it was the 850CSi, also called M8, from BMW's motorsport workshop. In a production span of six years, only 250 units were produced annually, which made this vehicle type sought after and desirable. This early example, delivered directly from the factory, has a remarkable history. On 22 October 1992 the 23rd 850CSi ever built left the Bavarian Motor Works – and thus a pre-series vehicle. The clean and flawless service book shows 5 entries with a total mileage of 45, 000 kilometres up to 1996. The car then found a new owner in Switzerland, who until 2014 had regular servicing at the same BMW specialist workshop. A private BMW enthusiast and collector eventually acquired the rare coupé with a mileage of 200, 000 kilometres, thereby completing his collection. Bodywork and paint: The original Diamantschwarz colour is in excellent condition. No dents, no scratches and with a full deep gloss. Interior: The fine leather upholstery is very well preserved and undamaged. The driver's seating area is slightly stretched, the rest of the leather elements is as flawless as the factory. The leather elements are as immaculate as the carpeting and the dashboards. The original Bavaria sound system with CD changer comes from the BMW Professional line. Engine and mechanics: The entire mechanicals are in top condition, all instruments and accessories function perfectly. Driving experience: ‘Detached from the reality of everyday life’, Auto Bild described the 850 CSi in 1993. This statement reflects the character, charisma, comfort and sheer power of the sports grand tourer. Recommendation: Getting hold of a V12 is now on many car lovers’ and collectors’ wish lists. Even the more conservative 850i is already a recommendation for lovers of premium vehicles from the 80s and 90s.
