Description
COD FIA00443
1981 Fiat 131 Abarth Rally Tribute, equipped with a 2. 0L double-cam four-cylinder engine delivering roughly 115 bhp.
The customer is always right... even in racing. Fiat's official entry into the world of rallying proved it.
Between the late 1960s and the early 1970s, Fiat received requests from private customers to support them in rally competitions with the 124 Sport Spider. In 1971 Fiat acquired Abarth, turning it into its official racing department. The Fiat Racing Team debuted in 1972 with the 124 Abarth Rally Group 4, achieving great success. In 1976, aiming to boost sales, Fiat replaced the old 124 lineup with the Fiat 131 saloon, transformed into a high-performance racing car. The Bertone Style Center designed the lightweight body using fibreglass and aluminium. With 400 units built between 1976 and 1978, the Fiat 131 Abarth Rally Group 4 rapidly dominated world rallying.
Driving this 131 is an exhilarating experience. From the sound to the pure feel of the drive, you’ll feel like a true connoisseur. This is due to the mechanism, which was completely rebuilt during the refurbishment. The 2. 0L twin-cam engine has been fully rebuilt with new pistons, oil pump, etc. The same goes for the twin-cam cylinder head. Mechanically it has also been updated to Abarth specifications, with an Abarth 5-speed gearbox and a new clutch, suspension, carburettors, etc.
Inside, you’ll find a sporty cockpit that pairs perfectly with the exterior, with seats redone in the same colour as the Abarth and blue stripes on the bodywork. The interior still retains its original look and feel, despite the refurbishment.
The car is on display in our showroom in Reggio Emilia, Italy.
