Description

We are proud to offer for sale this rare and iconic 1976 Laverda 750 SFC Elettronica (18000 batch). A genuine example from the very last and most exclusive production batch of this legendary model. With matching engine and frame numbers (18435), this bike is a part of Laverda’s final homage to one of the most revered racing-inspired road bikes of the 1970s.

The Laverda 750 SFC (Super Freni Competizione) was born from Laverda’s racing ambitions in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Initially created as a factory race bike, the SFC quickly built a formidable reputation on the endurance racing scene, with notable performances in events such as the Bol d’Or, 24 Hours of Oss, and Barcelona 24-Hours.

The 750 SFC Elettronica was one of the last of the factory production racing replicas built without regard to noise, gearshift, or emission regulations. This is number 18435 out of the 1976 18000 series (33 numbered 18411 – 18444). This final series 750 SFC comprises was distinguished by a set of thin-web, cast-allow FLAM wheels. It is a motorcycle built for a purpose and not to a price.

Its robust 750cc parallel-twin engine, exceptional build quality, and distinctive orange bodywork became hallmarks of a machine built as much for endurance as for speed. By the time this example was built in 1976, the SFC had evolved into a refined, road-legal sport bike. Still raw and race-bred, but increasingly rare and collectible. That year marked the end of SFC production, with only a handful produced before Laverda finally closed the chapter on this celebrated model. This particular bike is one of the last of its kind. And rarer still, one of approximately 33 units equipped from the factory with FLAM cast alloy wheels, a distinctive departure from the traditional Borrani wire wheels seen on earlier models.

Mechanically, this SFC is in good overall condition. The engine performs strongly, with the characteristic torque and raw twin-cylinder power delivery that makes these bikes so engaging to ride. It starts, rides, and handles very well, delivering the kind of performance that helped build the SFC’s formidable track record decades ago.

The bike retains its matching engine and frame numbers, adding significant value for collectors and enthusiasts seeking authenticity. The FLAM wheels are correct for this final production batch and are in good condition, enhancing both the rarity and the unique look of this machine. The current rear shocks are a period-correct Koni aftermarket set, replacing the original Ceriani units. They function well and maintain the bike's poise and ride characteristics, although purists may wish to return the bike to factory-correct suspension for full originality. A custom-made Smiths GPS-speedometer has been fitted for road use, offering accurate speed readings while respecting the bike’s vintage aesthetic.

While the bike is technically sound and presents well from a distance, its cosmetic condition shows patina. The frame shows signs of multiple layers of paint, which suggests that a full professional restoration could be desirable for a buyer seeking a concours-level finish. Additionally, the fairing and seat unit feature several unused holes, a detail that points to previous modifications or incomplete restoration work.

The paintwork overall is not perfect, with minor imperfections visible on closer inspection. These cosmetic flaws do not detract from the bike's usability or historical significance but are worth noting for those who prioritize visual presentation or wish to invest in a more thorough cosmetic restoration.

Despite these imperfections, the bike retains a high degree of originality where it matters most, including its engine, frame, fairing shape, and rare factory-correct wheels. This combination of authenticity and road-ready mechanical condition makes it an excellent candidate for either continued use or restoration to concours standards.

The Laverda 750 SFC is amongst the most iconic and sought-after European sport bikes of the 1970s. With very limited numbers produced (and even fewer surviving in original or near-original condition) these bikes have become serious investments for collectors worldwide.

This 1976 example stands out not only for being from the final year of production, but also for its rare FLAM wheels, matching numbers, and solid mechanical performance. As prices for well-preserved SFCs continue to rise, this bike represents both an opportunity to own a piece of Italian racing history and a potential long-term investment.

Whether you’re a serious collector, a vintage motorcycle enthusiast, or someone looking to own a legendary piece of Laverda history, this 750 SFC offers a compelling combination of rarity, provenance, and character. The bike is offered at a fair price for a mechanically sound, historically significant, and highly collectible Italian sport bike. Worldwide shipping can be arranged at buyer’s expense.
