A landmark year for Sunbeam, 1924 saw the Wolverhampton marque introduce its ‘Model Number’ system. The Model 8 was further notable for featuring overhead valves and internal-expanding drum brakes. Conventional in design, the Sunbeam’s frame utilised Druid forks and a rigid rear end. The single-cylinder 347cc engine was rated at 2¾hp and allied to a three-speed gearbox. Remaining in production from 1924-1931, the Model 8 became renown as an accomplished and very nicely made sporting single.
