It inherited the drivetrain from the 124 saloon, but the suspension was fundamentally revised. The wheelbase was extended by 7 cm to create more interior space. Later, engines with dual overhead camshafts were also introduced. The first facelift was carried out in March 1978, identifiable by the now rectangular headlights, larger taillights and plastic bumpers. The equipment became more upscale, especially with the Supermirafiori models. The Fiat 131 was also used as a rally car and was very successful in its class. Special Abarth models are now sought after and command price regions well over 200, 000.— This Fiat 131 Supermirafiori comes from the Swiss canton of Ticino and is accident- and rust-free. (Extremely rare !!!!) The coating by Dinol and underbody sealant also contribute, which were applied before delivery by the Swiss authorised dealer at the time. It has always been meticulously maintained, and the owner only used it when at his holiday home. It has demonstrably covered only 42, 700 km, comes with all papers, keys, owners’ manuals and tools.
