The successor to the Mercedes-Benz W111, the Mercedes-Benz W108 was launched in 1965. Designed by Paul Bracq, this luxury car with clean, elegant lines offers a spacious and open interior. It is in excellent condition, thanks in particular to the attentive care it has received over the years.
The body colour, Dunkelgruen (colour code 291), harmonises perfectly with this elegant Mercedes-Benz 280S. Registered in the Netherlands in 1971, it has belonged to its last owner since 1988. It has benefited from meticulous maintenance, as evidenced not only by the car itself but also by its complete service history. The original instruction booklets are included with the car, including the original stamped service book. The original brochure from that era is also included. The retention of such documentation gives this classic Mercedes-Benz a unique character.
The car is still in excellent condition. Its magnificent dark-green bodywork has a refined, deep shine, and the chrome and trim are still in good condition. The same goes for the rubbers and finishes. The body panels fit together perfectly and the doors close firmly and securely. The car is also equipped with an original electric sunroof and a tow hitch.
The interior is entirely original and in very good condition. The seats are exceptionally comfortable (which suits this solid and luxurious German classic perfectly). The front seats show signs of wear (notably on the backrests) and are otherwise in excellent condition. No fading has been observed. The dashboard is also in good condition, as are the wood veneers. The chrome and interior fittings are still in good condition. The headliner is also in good condition.
Under the bonnet lies a powerful inline six-cylinder petrol engine of 2, 778 cc producing 140 bhp. This engine offers exceptional smoothness with a particularly pleasant and quiet note. The four-speed automatic transmission makes driving this Mercedes-Benz 280S particularly comfortable. Handling and steering are exceptionally smooth, and the brakes are firm and precise. It is clear that this is a premium Mercedes-Benz, which makes this classic even more appealing.
