A well maintained, low mileage example in iconic Rosso Corsa with Crema. Featuring the highly sought after six-speed manual gearbox (only around 10% of production was manual as opposed to F1) and a number of rare and desirable options, this Ferrari F430 Spider is highly collectable now.
The mid-noughties were heady days for Ferrari. They achieved Six back-to-back F1 Constructors’ titles and built some of the finest road cars in history.
And then, in the autumn of 2004, it launched the F430, the latest – and easily the most potent – in a long line of V8 mid-engined supercars.
Evo magazine proclaimed it ‘Ferrari’s baby Enzo’ summing up the F430’s appeal: strikingly modern, brutally potent and chock-full of engineering and aerodynamic knowledge gained in the heat of Grand Prix battle.
The red, crackle-finish plenums visible through the glass engine cover belonged to a new 4. 3-litre V8 engine with a flat-plane crank and the Enzo’s highly sophisticated variable valve timing system giving a 0 to 62mph time in 4. 0sec and on to within a whisker of 200mph.
Styled by Pininfarina and honed in Ferrari’s wind tunnel, the F430 Spider saw a number of direct technological transfers from F1 including the E-diff and Manettino driver controls.
Today, the F430 manual is enjoying a resurgence amongst collectors with its compelling combination of analogue driver engagement, high-performance and its place in Ferrari history as the last mid-engined V8 Ferrari to offer a fully manual gearbox.
