This Porsche 356C Carrera 2 Coupé, chassis no. 124097, was completed at the Stuttgart factory on April 11, 1963 and delivered new through AutoHaus-Gramling in Karlsruhe, Germany. The car is in the original color combination Signal Red with a light leather interior and carpets in Tan German Square Weave.
The car is a sought-after model with matching numbers on the engine.
The Carrera 2 model is among the most sought-after 356s, as it represents the culmination of Porsche racing technology in a street car. The advanced 2. 0 liter Type 587/ 1 four-cam engine with 130 hp was the most powerful engine in a production Porsche at the time and delivered impressive performance: 0–100 km/ h in about 9 seconds and a top speed of around 210 km/ h. Together with Porsche’s new ATE disc brakes and improved suspension, this resulted in a car with excellent driving characteristics.
Only around 101 Coupés and 30 Cabriolets were produced in this rare C-series, which differed from the standard 356C with technical details such as additional oil coolers, improved cooling and a new, durable crankshaft design.
The car is fully documented with Kardex and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and it has a well-documented ownership history from 1987 to the present. It underwent an extensive cosmetic and mechanical restoration between 2009 and 2011 at Richardson Restoration & Machine Werks in Arizona to concours standard.
After a life in both Europe and the USA, the car came to Denmark, where it is part of a private collection. It has driven around 400 miles since its last review and stands as an excellent and rare example of one of Porsche’s most iconic classics — ready for both exhibitions and historic races. The car comes with European papers and is included VAT.
