Historic four-seat small car with transversely mounted air-cooled two-cylinder two-stroke engine, 386 cc, 13 HP, petrol/ oil mixture in a 1:25 ratio, pump-less gravity-fed fuel system, fuel tank capacity 18 litres, central tube frame, single-plate dry clutch, three-speed manual with a dog-leg gear shift, independent suspension, double transverse springs at the front, semi-elliptic leaf springs at the rear, front-wheel drive, hydraulic braking system, electrical system 6 volts, nice grey fabric hood (needs bringing into service).
The Lloyd LP 400 was introduced on 30 January 1953 by the Lloyd Motoren Werke in Bremen, which belonged to the Borgward Group, as the successor to the Lloyd 300 built from 1950 to 1952. The Model 300 still consisted of a wooden-frame body with plywood panels and deeply drawn sheet metal parts, which were upholstered in artificial leather. The early successor LP 400s were constructed similarly. During the model refresh, the LP 400 did not receive a sturdy all-steel body until November 1954. The LP 400 was available as a saloon, as an estate, as a cabriolet-saloon and as a sunroof-saloon. This listing concerns the latter variant. The car stood for many years in a heated room as a decoration. Before operation, a service should therefore be carried out. Hence the original sale price was reduced from €9, 500 to €6, 500!
The vehicle, which has an original Austrian vehicle documentation from 1955, is in very good condition. The car can be imported into all European Union member states duty-free and tax-free. European-wide delivery by our specialist classic-car forwarder can be arranged on request.
