Summary

ITALIAN LIGHTWEIGHT...

This very rare 200 Super Sport model (previously known as the "Elite" model) is understood to be one of only 2 UK bikes introduced into the UK by Vic Camp, Ducati Dealership in London, as the latest must have Italian lightweight from Italy. Originally demonstrated as a "Café Racer", ridden and maintained by Vic Camp's chief mechanic Albert Shaddock.

During 1966, this actual Super Sport was used for various road tests and previewed by motorcycle journalists under the preparation of Albert Shaddock.

The bike was sold to its first private owner, 16 year old Mr Gary Parkin on 24th July 1967 with a recorded 1, 000 miles on the clock, remarkably Mr Parkin owned the bike for the next 56 years. Mr Parkin used the bike for daily commuting from 1967 until 1978, clocking up some 16, 000 miles.

The bike was stored and infrequently used during the period from 1979-2019. Following his retirement, Gary decided to restore the bike to its former glory and carried out the work from 2019 until completion in 2023. Work carried out included:-

Engine refurbished by Ray Petty (Ducati engine specialist).
Frame powder coated and painted gold.
Tank and other metal parts painted by a specialist.
All new electrics, including coil, regulator and battery.
New Exhaust and silencer.
New Italian made seat and shock absorbers.
New Metzeler Tyres.
New aluminium "Jelly Mould" fuel tank.
New headlamp and rear light.

The packed history file documents all work carried out with supporting receipts, the original R. F. 60 green registration book, MOT certificate dated 17th April 1976 with a recorded 16325 miles, Ducati Motorcycle Age Certificate by the Ducati Owners Club, Instructions for use and maintenance manual, Ducati workshop manual, Classic Motorcycle Magazine dated January 1996 road testing the Elite model, and original ignition key.

Complete with a small box of spares plus the special spanner.

The RF 60 confirms that this 200 Super Sport has the original factory frame and engine numbers.

This Ducati 200 Super Sport is HPi clear with a certificate included. Taxation Class: Historic Vehicle

This is a truly outstanding piece of Ducati history, with only 3 recorded previous owners, of which the 3rd owner cherished for 56 years.
