Delivered new by Winter Garden Garage, London, this car’s first known custodian was Mrs Wyer of Wolverhampton, who cherished it until 1948. Subsequently, it was owned by R. H. Johnson of Sheffield University’s metallurgy department. In 1986, Mr & Mrs Perrin converted the car into a competition car, replacing the original body with a two-seat racing body and campaigning it in hill climbs and other events.
In 1998, it was rescued from dereliction by its current long-term owner who put it to painstaking restoration to return it to correct specification. Original components were preserved wherever possible, supplemented by authentic parts and coachwork sourced from other dismantled 15/ 98 Drophead Coupés. The coachwork was entrusted for restoration to Bodylines, renowned Aston Martin panel specialists, while the mechanical restoration was carried out by Ecurie Bertelli, pre-eminent experts in pre-war Aston Martins.
