From the beginning, RUF Automobile has excelled at both manufacturing its own exquisite sports cars and extracting extraordinary performance from existing Porsche road cars. The RUF 3. 6 Kompressor Kit pays tribute to that formative era, embodying the tuner's original mission with a factory developed kit that transformed the 996-generation 911 into something far greater than the sum of its (expertly engineered) parts. The centerpiece of the RUF factory-installed kit included an ASA centrifugal supercharger, new intake manifold, modified fuel injectors and engine management, and more-lifting output of the 911's 3. 6-liter to 409 horsepower-nearly that of the 911 Turbo! The result was a driving experience that distilled the ethos of the 996 generation 911-linear and predictable, but capable of delivering the explosive performance that fans of the Pfaffenhausen brand demand.
Prior to its RUF conversion, this 2003 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe was retained by the Porsche factory and was reportedly used as a show car. It was finished by the factory in Speed Yellow over a Black leather interior with Yellow seatbelts, instrument dials, and center console; and came equipped with many desirable options including the coveted X51 Power Kit, Aerokit Package, Sports suspension, heated and electrically adjustable sports seats, and leather trimmed center console, steering wheel, and floormats with Porsche script.
Following two years as a factory showpiece, the special 911 was sold to its first private owner based in Luxembourg. Shortly thereafter, the owner desired to make his 911 even more special and sent it to RUF in March 2006 to unlock the 996's true potential. The Zuffenhausen-based tuners installed their 3. 6-liter RUF motor and Kompressor kit as well as their clutch and flywheel kit, and signature 18-inch RUF wheels. After four years of enjoyment, the original owner sold his special 911 in 2010 and the car spent the next decade in a private collection before the consignor purchased it in February 2022. The consignor notes that the car was also previously owned by Gerard Lopez, former chairman of RUF Automobile and well-established RUF collector.
This thoughtfully transformed Porsche 911 is now offered with 73, 870 kilometers at consignment and is furnished with its original leather book pouch with owner's books, stamped service booklet, toolkit, yellow leather front-bumper stone chip protector, and all-important invoices and proof of work from RUF. Its detailed history file shows frequent servicing from new-notably a service by RUF in August 2007 and annual Car-Pass inspections performed from 2010-2021. In addition, the consignor notes that the car was most recently serviced in December 2024.
As values of RUF-badged sports cars continue to surge on the strength of their rarity and formidable performance, this example is an attainable entry point into the Pfaffenhausen circle that extracts the full potential of the most understood generation of Porsche 911. Blending factory show-car pedigree and desirable Exclusive Manufaktur specification with significant RUF upgrades, it represents a compelling opportunity to secure a genuine piece of the legendary tuner's legacy before the market fully catches up.
