This sure-fire future classic is in superb original condition throughout and is a joy to drive benefiting from some superb features such as Carbon Bucket Seats and Porsches superb PDK transmission. OVERVIEW: The Cayman R was a limited numbers model launched in 2011 as performance-based rework of the Cayman 3. 4 S with increased power, upgraded suspension and around 55kg of weight savings including aluminium doors and lightweight 'spyder' alloy wheels. Other factory 'R' upgrades included a 997 Sport-Design steering wheel, black faced instruments, body coloured centre console och red seatbelts. It appears that just 220 Cayman R's were registered in the UK in 2011/ 12 out of a total production number of 1 621 units The Cayman R has been described as "... a Cayman spread with GT3 dust" which sums the car up pretty accurately and the Cayman R would ultimately lead the way to the first Caman GT model, the GT4 which would eventually be released with the 981 Cayman in 2015. Externally the Cayman R is recognisable by its distinctive and unique features, including Boxster Spyder alloy wheels, Gloss black mirrors & air intakes, a large fixed rear wing, lower front splitters and Porsche lower side decals. DESCRIPTION: This Cayman R is in superb condition throughout and presents with nothing more than a few light stone chips on close inspection. The gloss black Spyder alloy wheels are unmarked and compliment the mirrors, air intakes, exhaust tips and rear wing perfectly. Tyres are a matching set of Bridgestone Potenza Sport with good tread remaining. On the inside, the highly sought after carbon backed bucket seats trimmed in black leather with alcantara centres show no major signs of wear. The Interior trim remains in superb condition with no significant wear and all switchgear works as it should. The interior features some nice 'GT' themed elements such as the 997 sports steering wheel with '12 O'clock' marker and PDK transmission paddles, red seat belts, body coloured centre console, aluminium style driver's pedals, and light-weight door trims with red door pulls. This Cayman R was ordered with several factory options to make the car more useable and comfortable including Automatic Air Conditioning, PCM with European Navigation, Park Assist and Rear Wiper. Although this example was originally ordered without factory Sports Chrono package, the car was Retro-Fitted with the Sport Chrono software and combined Sport Switch in July 2016 to enhance the cars drivability. On the road, the Cayman R is a joy to drive as you would expect. The car feels light whilst remaining tight and responsive with impeccable mid-engine handling with performance which does not disappoint whilst the Brembo brakes combined are powerful and confidence inspiring. The double-clutch 7-speed PDK transmission is superb and really maximises the cars performance whilst offering manual selections via the steering wheel paddles as the mood takes. Sport and Sport Plus modes are selectable should the driver wish to liven things up even further and the howl of the 3. 4 flat six at higher revs is simply intoxicating and addictive. These are a real drivers car and a sure fire future classic.
