Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, Online Auction - 29th January on Thursday the 29th of January, Online. Background:The Discovery Series I cemented Land Rover’s reputation for combining genuine off-road capability with everyday usability. Powered by the durable and much admired 300Tdi diesel engine, these cars are renowned for their longevity, mechanical simplicity and practicality. The three-door variant is particularly sought after today, offering a more traditional and utilitarian character while remaining highly capable both on and off the road.
The Car:First registered in 1998, this Discovery 1 300Tdi is a three-door, five-seat example showing 146, 000 miles. It has had just one former family ownership prior to the current owner, both recorded on the logbook. The car benefits from a comprehensive service history, with main dealer servicing throughout its life apart from the last two services carried out within the past 12 months by a Land Rover specialist. A substantial history file accompanies the vehicle, including invoices, paperwork, the original handbooks, service book and even the original bill of sale.
Over the past year, the current owner has invested heavily in mechanical upkeep, with over £4, 000 supported by invoices and clean Mot’s. Recent work includes:
New all-terrain tyres
New alternator
New battery
Timing belt, cam belt and water pump replacement
Rocker cover gasket and head gasket
New lift pump
Two full services including engine, gearbox and differential oils and filters
New brake discs and pads all round
New suspension all round with dampers and springs at standard ride height
Mot until Dec 2026
The interior is described as in great condition and retains its original specification throughout, from the factory radio to the floor mats and even the cigarette lighter. Externally, the car presents well, finished in its original factory paint. There is some light patina consistent with age, but overall, the bodywork remains honest and attractive.
This Discovery represents a well cared for and correctly maintained example of a now increasingly collectible Land Rover, offered with excellent provenance and a significant amount of recent expenditure.
