Lot 143
1972 Alfa Romeo F12 Minibus

Auction Estimate €60000 - 70000
Delivered new as a van to the Ministero dell'Interno in Rome, Italy
Frame-off restoration by the expert vendor (photographs available)
Accommodation for eight (including the driver)
Roadworthiness certificate valid until June 2027
According to information supplied by the Centro Documentazione Alfa Romeo, this charming Minibus was completed on 4th July 1972 and sold on 21st December that same year to the Ministero dell'Interno (Ministry of the Interior or Home Office) in Rome. It was delivered new as an unfurnished van powered by the trusted 1. 3-litre Giulietta twin-cam engine with single carburettor.
As official vehicles in Italy have different numberplates, a new numberplate was assigned (it is assumed) when the car finished its ministerial career in 1982; consequently, that is the date of first registration on the Italian libretto. Importantly, the libretto states the permitted number of passengers (including the driver) is eight. It is noted on the accompanying Certificato d'Origine that the van had some accident damage earlier in its life, and the minibus also comes with a fresh revisione (roadworthiness certificate) valid until June 2027.
Benefiting from a frame-off restoration by our vendor, who specializes in these beautiful vehicles, the result can only be described as stunning: the two-tone paint elegantly divided by a red coachline and the eight-seat interior tastefully trimmed in brown vinyl with wood panelling. (There are restoration photographs on file showing the chassis and body separated.) We cannot think of a cooler way of taking your friends and family to any motoring event!
All lots are sold 'as is/ where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Visit the Bonhams|Cars website for all pertinent auction information.
