World Championship sidecar based on the RS 54
In the decades following the Second World War, BMW-powered sidecar teams dominated the Grand Prix World Championship.
The low center of gravity, resulting from the horizontal
cylinders of the engine, gave the German machines a significant advantage
over their competitors.
This unprecedented dominance began in 1954 when Wilhelm Knoll
and his co-driver Fritz Cron ended the era of Norton rider Eric Oliver on a BMW.
From then on, BMW-powered sidecar teams won the World Championship for 13 consecutive years.
Numerous German drivers followed in Knoll's footsteps: Faust, Hillebrand, Schneider, Fath, Deubel, Enders, Owesle and Steinhausen
This is the Deubel and Hörner World Championship team.
